En-gag-ment Pictures

If you haven't noticed, we have had a severe shortage of new engagement pictures this semester. I know Twiterpation season isn't until March/April, but come on guys! Christmas is a perfect time to find that special someone and start picking out your kid's names. There are even some good baby name books here in the trusty HBLL. That could be your first date!! I'll bet Jeff would even let you go down to the ultra-romantic basement for a candle-lit rendevous. Anyway, let's makeit happen people! Your eternal salvation depends on it!!!

I Hate You...

...for putting 52 sticky notes in your freaking library book. And not taking them out.

2005-11-07

I Hate You. . .

. . .You Readers for Pleasure!

Where do you find the time to read all of these books that have NOTHING to do with school? Can you do some of MY homework so I can enjoy the sampler section of the library? I mean, it's not like you're doing anything productive!

And why do you read so much at one time? Is ONE trashy romance novel at a time not good enough for you? Why do you have to pile them on my desk, rubbing it my face that you're having leisure time while I'm stressing about my next research paper (due this Friday)?

And why do your stupid books have to be so small? It just makes stacking awkward for all of us.

And I hate dumb people who forget to take out their ILL books and pass them around. Interlibrary Loan should require an IQ test for people to check stuff out.

AND I hate people who beep, but keep walking through the machines acting like nothing happened.

*Sigh* It must be a Monday.

MORNING CREW

Per request from Sgt. Strong we will soon be moving the checklist from the clipboard to the computer. This came about as a result of putting reminders of the checklist on OUTLOOK. Five minutes before something comes up on the checklist you should get a reminder to look at the checklist.

Jeff then decided that he would like to move away from the paper copy and put everything on the computer.

In order to test and make sure that everything works out per the reminders on OUTLOOK those who open in the morning need to turn OUTLOOK on the middle computer in the control room. Then by minimizing it you will receive a reminder as stated above.

If there are any problems with any of the reminders make note of them and email 747 or 717 about it and we will fix it.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: when a reminder comes up please click on the "Dismiss" button on the right not the "Dismiss All" button on the left.

Lost and Found

So, as I sit at the west desk the other day, a young man approaches me with a dollar bill in his hand. The conversation proceeded in this manner;

$Guy: Is this where the lost and found is?

709: This is it.

$Guy: (Holding out the dollar bill) So, this is where I'd turn this in, right?

709: Yeah, this is where you'd leave it.

Suddenly an aura of hesitation overcomes $guy and he retracts his small treasure ($1), clutching it tightly and asks me;

"Well, is this something that someone would come looking for?" (most likely dreaming of the pink-frosted mother cookie that he would purchase with the newly found fortune...)

I could tell this was a real moral dilemma for $Guy who must have had some high hopes for that dollar, and I said,

"Well, I can't make you turn it in..."

His head then drooped down while sadly looking at the dollar he was about to lose and said,
"Ok, I'll leave it here. But I'm going to come back in a few hours and if it's still here, I'm gonna take it"

I said ok and I put the dollar in the box. Whether or not $guy got to the dollar first, I don't know. But the real question is, if you had a brand new dollar bill, what would you do with it?
