For all of those Dissidents out there

You may have noticed an increase in comments made by Mr. T, well I want to point out that if the comment was from me my name will appear to be a different color. Where in the case of the fake mr. t the name is in the normal bland white color.

To this end you can also see a difference in our writing styles, I for one write in a more conversational manner with long sentences, misspellings and bad grammer. Something I feel appropriate for this forum and probobly will never correct while writing as the Mr. T we all have grown to love or hate. I would also like to point out that due to writing styles, frequency of comments, and subject matter of their comments that all of these extra comments are written by the same person... and I think Im sure of who it is. Yes that is right mr t, Jose Con Queso, Merriam Webster, etc. are most likely the same person. Of course we recognize the fun and playful nature of our 100 hour board visitors who have other means of sharing thier views on things so don't frequent too often and always let us know who they are.

No, this person is on the crew. You know who you are. And though I appreciate the fact that you no longer write under annonymous I would point out that your writing style gives you away too easily now. Who you attack, when you attack, and how you attack or otherwise share your opinion are too similar. And who you defend or how you get back at those who attack you gave away who you were right away.

So now I say this. Until the West Desk is cleared of all dissidents I will never leave a comment on anyones post. If I chose to comment in a positive or negative way I will instead make it a post that will not be a small comment easily avoided but out there for all to see. There is no end to my ranting and I will let my opinion go with no second thought or attemt at being tactful.

I just hope this particular member of the crew can now speak their mind freely without having to hide behind another name.

-the real Mr. T (also known as 747)

Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dustin' crops, boy.

There's something about the Throne Room and End Title music for close that just gets me.

I'm walking through the ol' HBLL, radio clipped to the blazer, keys jingling on my left hip and a flashlight strapped to my right. All I need is a good blaster at my side...

...and I'd be Han Solo.

Or, at least, really FEEL like Han Solo.

"Don't everybody thank me at once..."

Request #2 for my fellow beloved security guards (esp. morning crew)

Dear all,

In lieu of Mr. T's comment, I just wanted to request that morning staff start reading the west desk blogspot. That is all.

Remarks,

Request for my beloved fellow security officers. (esp. Morning crew)

I just have a request for the morning crew. Could you please try to mix up your job positions a little bit? While I enjoy checking chexits, sometimes it gets a little monotonous to do it every day. It's good for us to switch things up a little bit anyway, for security reasons. ( a little trick learned in Library academy)
Thanks and God Speed

Toto, we're not in Oklahoma anymore.

Okay, can someone explain the lure of a belt buckle for me? At home in AZ among the ro-DAY-o princesses and such, I understand such an accessory. But here, in the HBLL, on a carefully manicured, Abercrappy-sporting metro-man, it looks horribly out of place.

Which brings me to the topic of cowboy hats on "city slickers"...but don't even get me started on that.

All I can say is, if it's an accessory (functional or no) that has been embellished to the point of ridiculous-ness, please don't wear it in my presence.

What's Love Got to Do, Got to Do With It?

Dan. . .
Charlie. . .
Mark. . .
and Joel.

We are the few, the proud, the Valentine's Day (Night) workers!!

Proudly we sit here on this night of lovers and watch all the pity-partiers walk in with sad looks on their faces, as well as those who hate Valentine's Day and are prejudiced against those that celebrate it, as well as those who bring their loved one into the realm of Harold B. Lee. Patiently we sit as those sympathetic acquaintences enter the library, make eye contact with us, and assume that we, too are lonely this night. They offer shallow condolences to empty ears as our attention drifts away because of their mindless babble.

I do not praise the day of St. Valentine, nor condemn it. I leave it to you to decide.

A walking chalkboard, and how I lost my mind.

The other day I saw a walking chalkboard during my sabbatical at East. An oblong, dark -greenish piece of slate, with two hands grasping above and below, and two skinny legs carrying its bulky form down the stairs below.

I stood up to better gaze upon this phenomenon, then left the desk to watch, open-mouthed, as the chalkboard carefully picked its way down the granite steps.

Then the chalkboard rounded a corner and turned, revealing the skinny, be-spectacled man (the owner of the skinny legs, mind you) carrying a large mounted map of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

It seems my bemused gaze had turned on a hapless janitor, setting up the new exhibit in Special K. And I had temporarily lost my mind.

The End.

Love when that happens...

You know those days when you plan on getting up early, having plenty of time to shower and make yourself presentable for the day and get to school on time, with a few minutes to spare?

And then somehow, you wake up to sunlight seeping through your blinds and you realize...you've slept in! So you jolt up in bed and look frantically at the clock; groan, throw off your covers, and run around grumpy and rushed, trying to get yourself together as quickly as possible...

So that was me this morning. I set my alarm for 6:30, planned on getting to school at 7:30, studying for a couple of hours and working at 9:30. And I woke up at 9: 10!!!

By the time I got to school, I was a few minutes late for work (which makes me sooo frustrated!), my hair was wet, and I just felt ugly and grumpy!

And some sweet guy friend of mine...that precious soul...comes strolling into the library and as he passes me at the West Desk, he takes my hand gently, and with a sincere smile says, "Melissa, you look amazingly beautiful today!" and went on his merry way.

Granted, it's possible that he noticed I wasn't looking my best and came up with a smooth line to make me feel better about it...

But if that's the case, it worked!...bless his cute little gentlemanly heart.

And the Winner Is. . .

So,

I'm asking for votes for which major turns in the most annoying books.

My vote is for Elementary Education. They turn in stacks and stacks of books at a time, and they're always oddly shaped, too big, and sometimes have a giant spiral binding.

These people should have a drop-off box or something.
